The History of Folk Music in Northeast Florida

May 18th - The Histiry of Folk Music in Northeast Florida

Stories and Songs presented by Al Poindexter at the Main Library of Jacksonville, Fl

https://www.facebook.com/events/2013359132083217/

Enjoy folk songs and stories of the songwriters and performers heard at festivals, folk clubs, campfires and living rooms in North Florida, including live music and video clips. Use one of the guitars and ukuleles on site, or bring your own guitar, ukulele, banjo, harmonica, or whatever suits your fancy. You will sing songs you know, and learn some new ones too! This workshop is based on the book, “North Florida Folk Music – History and Tradition” by Ron Johnson, former President of the North Florida Folk Network.

Funding for this program was provided through a grant from the Florida Humanities Council with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Presented at The Jacksonville Main Library Makers Space, 303 N Laura St,, Jacksonville, Florida 32202
